The San Antonio Spurs will take on the Utah Jazz tonight as they begin to wrap up the rodeo road trip in Salt Lake City. The match will tip-off at 8 PM Central Time tonight.

The Spurs still have yet to get a victory in the last 15 games played. Their last win was over a month ago on January 17th against the Nets in San Antonio. Most recently, the team lost in a 142-116 blowout against the Mavericks.

The Jazz on the other hand are currently ranked number 10 in the West, so wins are crucial to ensure they will still qualify for the play-in. The Jazz are coming off of a razor-thin victory against the Thunder by a score of 120-119.

Spurs vs. Jazz Preview

The Spurs and Jazz have only met one time this season back in December when the Spurs defeated the Jazz 126-122. One thing to note is the odds back in December were extremely even. This game? The Jazz are nearly the 5-1 favorite.

It is no surprise at this point of the Spurs’ performances recently and sadly, the defense doesn’t show any signs of improvement. After a lackluster fourth-quarter performance against the Mavs, the Spurs were outscored 43-26. With the recent injuries, however, it has given some opportunity to some youngsters on the squad to showcase their skill. Malaki Branham immediately comes to mind for all San Antonio fans. In Devin Vassell’s absence, the rookie has thrived on the court. Dominick Barlow, Blake Wesley, and Charles Bassey have been getting some opportunities on the court as well. Those three players played have thrived in the G-league for the majority of the season, and now they all have their opportunities in the big leagues.

The Jazz are in the playoff hunt, and the rest of the games for the season are extremely important for the team. In their last outing, they had one player in particular who exploded on the offensive end. Lauri Markkanen finished the game with 43 points against the Thunder. Behind him was former San Antonio native Jordan Clarkson with 24 points. The odds are in the Jazz favor tonight, and we will get another opportunity to watch the young Spurs team continue to add more experience.
