San Antonio has come short in their first three preseason matchups. Likely foreshadowing a rough regular season, it will be important for the Spurs to spread the minutes and focus on growth this year.
Spurs vs. Jazz Preview
Coach Popovich gave veterans Jakob Poetl and Devin Vassell the night off on Sunday. Expect to see a return tonight of the duo who will be joined by forward Keldon Johnson (listed below).
Doug McDermott has led the team in scoring this pre-season coming off of back-to-back 14-point performances. Whether or not McDermott will stay a Spur the whole season, the NBA veteran’s experience will serve good for the young San Antonio team, as well as a spark off the bench.
The Utah Jazz enter the game at 1-1 with a loss to the Raptors in the opener and coming off a win against the Trailblazers. Jordan Clarkson, a San Antonio native, is coming off of a big 20-point performance to lead the Jazz past the Trailblazers.
Keep an eye out for the Spurs rookies in this matchup. With the regular season starting line-up in the air, it will be important to see how our 3 first-round picks finish the preseason.

Johnson has missed the first three pre-season matchups as the San Antonio veteran had been sidelined due to a dislocated shoulder injury.
The Kentucky alumni recently told Sirius XM Radio “I have had no setbacks. I feel amazing right now. I’m ready to go.”
The city of San Antonio is looking forward to this one, as Johnson is expected to lead the charge for the Spurs this season.
Zach Collins In Concussion Protocol
The San Antonio Spurs have announced that forward Zach Collins has entered the NBA’s Concussion Protocol following last night’s Spurs-Pelicans game. Collins will not travel to Utah for tomorrow's Spurs-Jazz game.

Zach Collins saw his first pre-season starting appearance on Sunday against the Pelicans. Unfortunately, a Zion Williamson charge landed Collins in the headlights of the NBA concussion protocol.
In his first three games, Collins averaged:
PPG: 9
APG: 2.6
RPG: 3.6
MPG: 19
