The San Antonio Spurs snapped their two-game losing streak as they defeated the Utah Jazz (43-26) 119-111 on Friday afternoon in the fifth game of the NBA Restart.
The victory not only snaps the losing streak but brought San Antonio within a game of the ninth-seeded Portland Trail Blazers.
Utah was shorthanded as Rudy Gobert (rest), Donovan Mitchell (left peroneal strain) and Mike Conley (right knee soreness) all did not play. Jordan Clarkson scored 24 points to lead the Jazz, while Tony Bradley had 15 points.
Three Standout Players
Derrick White
Derrick White is quickly growing into the Spurs’ best player for the future as he led the Silver and Black in scoring and continues to play well on both ends of the court.
White scored 24 points, had six rebounds, and dished out four assists as he connected on four of his nine three-point attempts. The Jazz did their best to take away the perimeter shooting but Derrick made them pay time and time again.
Jakob Poeltl
The Spurs big took advantage of the hole in the paint with Utah’s Golbert to defend the rim and had a big game.
Poeltl had 19 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. His teammates found him for easy buckets and he was a monster on the boards, rebounding from two poor performances in the previous Spurs losses.
Lonnie Walker IV
Speaking of rebounding from bad games, Lonnie Walker also put up a better performance on Friday in the win, playing much better on both ends after Wednesday’s loss to Denver.
Walker finished with 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists. He looked more comfortable, stayed aggressive, and looked for his shot.

The Spurs are now 30-38 on the season and will return to the court on Sunday afternoon when they face the New Orleans Pelicans (29-39) at 3 p.m.
