Longhorns guard Cory Joseph will be staying in the Lone Star State and will be trading in his burnt orange for the silver and black.
Joseph was projected to go midway through the second round and while UCLA’s Malcolm Lee was available, the Spurs decided to look in their own backyard to address the need for a point guard after they traded George Hill for Kawhi Leonard earlier in the draft.
Joseph is a 6-3 combo guard with excellent speed. He averaged 10.4 points and 3.6 rebounds and three assists last season at Texas.
Joseph is more of a shoot-first guard, but is far from being the caliber that Hill was at the backup point guard spot.
