Spurs recall Jonathon Simmons from Austin

The San Antonio Spurs have recalled guard Jonathon Simmons from their D-League affiliate, the Austin Spurs.

Simmons spent two seasons with Austin, averaging 12.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.00 blocks in 28.8 minutes. In the 2014-15 campaign, he averaged 15.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.00 steals while being named to the NBA D-League All-Defensive Third Team.

San Antonio will be missing forward Kawhi Leonard (sickness) and Manu Ginobili (tightness) and Simmons will be active for the first time this season.

Austin will return to the court tonight at 7 p.m. for their first road contest of the season against the Oklahoma City Blue inside the Cox Convention Center.
