Spurs need win over Hawks to avoid falling further out of NBA Playoff race

The Spurs had a chance to sweep wins over the four top teams in the Eastern Conference in the last two weeks with a win against the Miami Heat, but they lost and are currently on the outside looking in at the Western Conference playoff picture at 9th in the West with a 17-22 record.

If they’d like to get closer to the .500 mark and get back into playoff contention as we approach the midpoint of the season, they could use a win againstone of the worst teams in the league, the Atlanta Hawks, on Friday night.

According to PA Sportsbook, the Spurs are looking like early favorites to win the game on Friday at 7:30 at the AT&T Center.

This should be an interesting game, especially with the news lately that the Hawks have expressed trade interest in Spurs center Jakob Poeltl.

The last time the Spurs and Hawks played this season, the Spurs lost 108-100 as Trae Young returned from injury to finish with 29 points and 13 assists for the Hawks, while DeMar DeRozan scored 22 for the Spurs. It will be the second and final game of the regular season series between the Spurs and Hawks this season.

While the Spurs will enter the game with a clean bull of health, the Hawks have several injured players, including Jabari Parker and Bruno Fernando, who are out, and Alen Len and Chandler Parsons who are day-to-day.

The Hawks won their most recent game, but they are 3-7 in their last 10 games, and even worse, they are 4-18 on the road. The Spurs will be coming off the loss to the Heat, they are 5-5 in their last 10 games and 11-9 at home.

DeMar DeRozan and Trae Young are two players to keep your eye on for your fantasy teams.
