Who would have thought the Spurs would be sitting in the third spot of the Western Conference? Yes, we are only four games into the season, but with two wins against playoff contenders in the back pocket, the team has surely surprised organizations around the league with their fast start. After their near 30-point loss to Charlotte, some would have thought the team would be right next to the Lakers and Kings, who are still chasing their first win of the season. The San Antonio Spurs look to strap up for the second time against a tough Timberwolves lineup tonight in the Target Center.

Not a lot is on the line for the Spurs this season. Although it has been made clear that San Antonio will not be holding back anything this season, the youngsters will be able to showcase their skills without big expectations, but with plenty of eyes looking at what they will be able to offer.
In the first outing on Monday night, the Spurs came out with an explosive start putting up a 39-point quarter right out of the gate. By halftime, Jeremy Sochan was leading the team with 12-points. Spurs-Timberwolves Preview
Just two days out from their last meeting, the San Antonio Spurs are back in the same arena for the second time in a row. However, In this second matchup against the Timberwolves, the Spurs will be without guard-forward, Devin Vassell (listed below). Last game, Vassell had a huge performance finishing with an impressive 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists in 33 minutes. Not far behind was Keldon Johnson who tallied 18 points in his 34 minutes. Expect to see another big performance, as he will likely lead again in minutes played for the Spurs.
If the Spurs are hoping to come out with another victory, they will need to limit Karl-Anthony Towns. In the first game, Towns finished with a strong double-double leading all players on the court with 27-points. D’Angelo Russell was the only other Timberwolve to pass the 20-point mark with 25 points going 50% from the field.
The odds are indeed in favor of Minnesota. However, if the Spurs can continue a fast-paced, pass-often game, with another 45% night from the floor, then we are in store for another high-action game. Regardless of the outcome, the San Antonio Spurs have been certainly an exciting team to watch this year.

Devin Vassell Officially Ruled Out
Some news out of shootaround: #Spurs have downgraded Devin Vassell (sore left knee) from doubtful to out for tonight’s rematch with Timberwolves.

Vassell has been officially labeled as out for tonight’s game with a sore knee. The third-year Spur has undoubtedly proved that he is going to be a big shoulder to lean on this season. With him being labeled as a top-10 pick in many outlets’ redrafts, it comes as no surprise that he will fill a huge role for this developing team.

With his absence, It will be important to see who will fill in his starting role tonight, and how the team will finish a game without his presence. Project Spurs writer Collin Reid believes either Josh Primo or Josh Richardson will get the call up to the starting line.
