Spurs’ hot shooting night leads to rout of Wolves

The San Antonio Spurs used their hot shooting to coast to a 124-98 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves (14-18) at the AT&T Center on Friday night.

The win was the third straight for the Spurs, who have won by 25 points or more in their last five wins overall.

“We did a good job sharing the ball,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “They made shots on top of that, so it makes for a really good night. Our defense was pretty solid again and we’re just trying to get better at that end of the court.”

Bryn Forbes led the Spurs with 22 points, going 3-for-5 from three-point range while adding seven assists and four rebounds. Off the bench, Marco Belinelli and Davis Bertans combined for 32 points, shooting 10-for-16 from three-point land.

Overall, the Spurs shot 19 for 33 on from beyond the arc and shot 53 percent for the game.

LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan had quiet nights with 10 and 12 points respectively. It is not like the Spurs really needed their scoring with seven players in double figures and every active player getting on the scoreboard.

Meanwhile, things were a tad different for Minnesota. The Timberwolves trailed by as many as 30 points and were led by Andrew Wiggins’ 13 points.

It seems the Silver and Black may be starting to figure things out and gel together and it couldn’t have come at the best time.

”We had a lot of ups and downs at the beginning of the season, which was expected,” DeRozan said. ”We just stayed patient and continued to chip away at it.”
