The San Antonio Spurs held off a late run by the Dallas Mavericks to grab a 112-105 victory at the AmericanAirlines Center on Tuesday night.
The win was the sixth straight for the Spurs, who have won six of their last seven games overall.
Here is what went good and bad for the Spurs, as well as three standout players: DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Derrick White.
The Good:
- Davis Bertans had a solid night off the bench for San Antonio, scoring 11 points on 3-for-5 shooting from three-point range.
- Derrick White continues to show his growth and how bright the future is for San Antonio with his progress this season.
- Mavs rookie sensation Luka Doncic had an off night, scoring 12 points on 27 percent shooting (5-for-18, 1-for-7 FT’s).
The Bad:
- San Antonio’s bench had just seven points when you take out Bertan’s 11 points. Patty Mills and Marco Belinelli combined for seven points on 2-for-12 shooting.
Three Standout Players:
DeMar DeRozan:
The Spurs leading scorer put the team on his back down the stretch as he has done the majority of the season, not allowing the Spurs to lose on this night.
DeRozan finished with 33 points and shot 58 percent from the floor. He weaved his way through the Dallas defense, went to the free throw line and found his teammates for big buckets that kept the Spurs in front for the majority of the game.
LaMarcus Aldridge:
The Spurs workhorse had no problem going up against Dallas’ big men in Dwight Powell and Dirk Nowitzki as he got into a nice rhythm early and often.
Aldridge finished with 28 points on 58 percent shooting as he hit from the top of the key, fade away, and banged down for easy lay-ins.
San Antonio stayed perfect when Aldridge and DeRozan both score 20-plus points in games this season.
Derrick White:
The second-year guard continues to show his improvement and has proven the Spurs will be just fine next season with an improved White, Dejounte Murray’s return, and Lonnie Walker’s growth.
White finished with 23 points on 60 percent shooting from the floor. He also added seven assists to his stat line as he found open teammates for big-time buckets.

The Spurs are now 39-29 on the season and will return to the court on Friday night when they welcome the New York Knicks (13-54) to the AT&T Center at 7:30 pm Central Time.
