Spurs hold off Bighorns for road win

The Austin Spurs held off a late charge from the Reno Bighorns to earn a 115-106 win in front of 1,275 fans inside the Reno Events Center on Tuesday night.

DeShaun Thomas led Austin with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Orlando Johnson added 18 for the Spurs, who improved to 4-1 on the road.

Austin had six players in double figures and outscored Reno 35-20 in the third quarter. However, the Bighorns responded in the fourth with a 35-23 quarter of their own and shot 60 percent, but their rally fell short.

Reno was led by Ricky Ledo’s 31 points and 10 rebounds. Vincent Hunter added 24 points and Erick Green chipped in 22 for the Bighorns (3-4), who remain winless at home.

The Spurs are now 6-1 on the season and will return to the court on Friday when they welcome the Westchester Knicks to the Cedar Park Center at 7:30 p.m.
