Green takes in some summer hoops

Take one part NBA offseason and one part lockout and fans could be facing a long wait for professional basketball to kick up again.

Not only will fans have to endure the wait, NBA players also recognize it could be quite sometime before they lace up their sneakers again for their respective NBA teams.

In order to stay in game-shape, some players have participated in summer Pro-Am’s such as San Antonio Spurs’ Danny Green.

Green, along with other NBA players such as Jamario Moon, Al Harrington and Ryan Gomes, recently played in the Nike Pro City League and had this to say about the experience:

“This tournament, from the enthusiastic crowd to the music to the players, is everything New York,” said Green, who grew up in North Babylon, on Long Island. “But the bottom line for us players is that this is very serious basketball, and a great way to stay in game-shape.”

“If you got game,” Green said, “this is the place to be.”

With the lockout in full force and the NBA Vegas Summer League cancelled, this is a great alternative for hungry NBA fans to satisfy their appetite for basketball.

As for Green, there has been reports he is in talks to sign with Greek team Olympiakos and if true, then he will most certainly get more playing time and a nice pay-raise.
