Spurs Fall To Legends 113 to 110

Just days after the D-League Showcase the Austin Spurs were back at work Thursday Night as they played host to the Texas Legends in Cedar Park.

The game marked the return of Kyle Anderson who was assigned to the team January 20th.  Anderson would essentially pick up where he left off when he last wore an Austin Spurs jersey.  He finished with a double-double, 19 points and 16 rebounds in 43 minutes of play.

There was not much going for Austin in the first half.  The Texas Legends at times seemed to do what they could at any point.  The second quarter showed just that.  The Legends came out and put up 36 points while holding the Spurs to 26.  With their offensive explosion in the second, the Legends heading into the half were leading 63 to 48.

The start of the second half the Spurs showed some fight as it was a role reversal from the second quarter. Bryce Cotton and Kyle Anderson brought the charge back for the Spurs as they finished the quarter with 39 points while holding their opponent to 29.

With only nine players suiting up for the Spurs, looking for someone to step up in games would be key for them in their quest to knock off the Legends.  Step in Orlando Johnson.

Johnson played well for the Spurs off the bench and was one reason for the offensive surge in the third quarter for the Spurs as they would cut the Legends lead down to seven heading into the fourth.

Johnson would finishwith a team high 23 points in 34 minutes of play.

Damion James and the Legends would turn out to be too much for the Spurs as the Legends squeak out a 113-110 victory.

With the loss, the Spurs fall to 16-8, Legends improve to 13-10.  Next up for the Austin Spurs, the Oklahoma City Blue (14-10).
