AUSTIN – While trade deadline madness occured in the NBA, the Austin Spurs squandered away a 20 point lead to narrowly defeat the Iowa Wolves, 114-112.

Jaron Blossomgame and Livo Jean-Charles led the Spurs with a game-high 23 points each. Nick Johnson recorded a double-double with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. And Jeff Ledbetter burned down the nets with 18 points on 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

For the Wolves, Amile Jefferson had 23 points and a staggering 17 rebounds. Anthony Brown added in 18 points. While Justin Patton scored 17 points for Iowa.

Both teams came out strong to start the matinee contest, with the Spurs holding a 35-30 lead to end the first quarter.

Blossomgame and Ledbetter combined for more than half of Austin’s second quarter points, as the Spurs took a 10 point lead into halftime.

Despite shooting 50 percent from the field in the third, the Wolves couldn’t maintain the same offensive intensity the Spurs had, allowing Austin to go up 20 points heading into the final frame.

The roles reversed in the fourth quarter as the Spurs committed six turnovers allowing the Wolves to tie the game with only 30 seconds left.

Luckily Nick Johnson hit the final dagger with his third 3-pointer of the game, giving Austin the two point victory.
