BROOKLYN – The San Antonio Spurs road trip continues sans three of their rotation players. While the return of head coach Gregg Popovich is welcomed, LaMarcus Aldridge (shoulder), Marco Belinelli (illness) and Jakob Poeltl (knee) are all listed as out versus the Brooklyn Nets. Here is the DFS outlook for Friday:
TREY LYLES (FD: $5200 | DK: $5100)
In anticipation of an Aldridge return, Lyles saw his price drop slightly on both sites which makes him a serviceable option for Friday. The Nets are 26th defensively against other power forwards and 13th against opposing centers. With the Spurs only 2.5-point underdogs tonight, Lyles is projected to play over 30 minutes for the fourth game in a row and is a solid power forward option, especially on DraftKings.
PROJECTED FANTASY POINTS (FD: 27.1 | DK: 34)
RUDY GAY (FD: $4400 | DK: $4600)
Another option without a price increase is forward Rudy Gay. His minutes have creeped into the upper 20s with Aldridge hurt, averaging nearly 24 fantasy points per game in that span. As discussed on the most recent episode of the Spurscast, not only has Gay shifting into the small ball center role helped San Antonio’s defense, but the offensive efficiency has increased as well. Gay may struggle against Jarrett Allen and DeAndre Jordan, but there’s no reason Gay shouldn’t hit at least four to five times his value tonight.
PROJECTED FANTASY POINTS (FD: 23.6 | DK: 27.3)
DeMAR DeROZAN (FD: $7800 | DK: $7200)
With the exception of the game against the Mavericks, DeRozan has been pretty average in fantasy terms. His last three games came with slightly below average performances on FanDuel. That, along with the Nets solid defense against guards, makes him somewhat unplayable on FanDuel. Especially considering that Jimmy Butler has a favorable matchup against the Pelicans tonight at $100 less.
On the other side, DeRozan is a good DraftKings play. While his usage rate has plummeted into the teens the last two games, DeRozan projects to be back to his usual self with a high usage rate and minutes in the 30s. Plus with his drop in price, he’s a low risk/high reward play.
