The San Antonio Spurs made four different roster moves Friday, converting the two-way contracts of Devontae Cacok and Joe Wieskamp to full NBA contracts first, then, the Spurs signed DJ Stewart Jr. and Robert Woodard II to the open two-way contract roster spots.
With the four moves, the Spurs’ roster is now full with 17 total players, as the season ending draws near with just 19 games remaining in the regular season schedule.
Wieskamp was drafted by the Spurs in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft and he’s been on a two-way contract since before the season started. Cacok joined the team on a two-way contract after training camp.
Wieskamp has played in just 17 games with San Antonio, spending most of his time in Austin when the team had most of their rotation players available. Cacok has only played in 11 games with San Antonio, where he has also spent most his time in Austin this season.
According to a release from the team, Stewart Jr. has played in 34 G-League games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, averaging 17.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.68 steals in 36.6 minutes.
Woodard II has played in 15 games in the G-League this season, averaging 12.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 26.9 minutes.
In 2021, during the G-League bubble, Woodard II played for the Austin Spurs since Sacramento didn’t send a team to the bubble during that season.
Stewart Jr. will wear number 16 with the Spurs and Woodard II will wear number 28.
The Spurs didn’t release the terms of the contracts for Cacok and Wieskamp, but they’ll be paid for the remainder of this season and now in the offseason, the Spurs will have non-bird rights on each player to be able to re-sign him if the team is over the salary cap this offseason.
