SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs closed out the 2018-19 regular season with a 105-94 victory over the Dallas Mavericks (33-49) at the AT&T Center on Wednesday night.

The victory officially clinched the seventh seed in the Western Conference Playoffs for San Antonio, which begins this weekend. The game saw the Silver and Black close out the season on a three-game winning streak.

Wednesday night also marked the final NBA game for Mavericks big man Dirk Nowitzki, who is retiring after 21 seasons. The Spurs paid a tribute to Nowitzki in a pre-game video, which had him in tears.

“Dirk has always stepped it up,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “It was an honor and a privilege to watch him for as long as I have.”

LaMarcus Aldridge led the Spurs with a game-high 34 points and 16 rebounds. DeMar DeRozan added 19 points and four rebounds on the night.

Nowitzki added 20 points and 10 rebounds for his first and only double-double of the season, fittingly in this final game of his career.

The Spurs close out the 2018-19 season with a 48-34 record overall, one win better than last season. San Antonio finishes with a 32-9 home record and a 16-25 mark away from the AT&T Center.
