Spurs’ ‘Big Three’ make 2012 All-Star ballot

Just because this 2011-2012 NBA season is short, doesn’t mean there won’t be an All-Star Game.

Orlando will play host to the annual event and the San Antonio Spurs’ “Big Three” of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker are on the ballot.

Duncan is a 13-time All-Star and with the West loaded with forwards such LaMarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant and Kevin Love, it is highly unlikely TD would be voted in as a starter. As for being named to the bench by the coaches, it is also in doubt. Again, not only are there the other notable forwards, his numbers haven’t been stellar this season.

Parker is a 3-time All-Star and again will face stiff competition trying to be voted into the starting lineup. Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Ricky Rubio, and Russell Westbrook are likely to get a majority of the votes.

Ginobili was the likely Spur to make the starting lineup or the bench until his hand was fractured and will now require surgery. He was on a tear prior to the injury averaging 20.6 points.

With all the talent on the All-Star ballot, it might be likely no Spur will be voted in unless Spurs fans stuff the ballot box or the coaches name TP or TD to the roster.
