San Antonio Spurs’ Tiago Splitter and Valencia Basket won their first match at the 2011 Eurocup defeating Oostende 75-62.
Splitter scored 15 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, 1 assist, shot 6-6 from the field, 3-4 from the free-throw line in 20 minutes.
After a nip-and-tuck first quarter, Valencia went into halftime leading 40-31. However, in the third quarter Oostende narrowed the gap and took a brief lead at 49-48 before entering the fourth quarter tied with Valencia at 51.
Using an 8-0 run in the decisive fourth quarter, Valencia took the lead for good to capture their first Eurocup win
Spurs draftee Nando De Colo chipped in with 11 points, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds in 34 minutes for Valencia while Jason Rich led the way with 16 for Oostende.
Splitter and Valencia will next face Spurs draftee Adam Hanga and Assignia Manresa.
