"We've never focused on it. We don't go day-to-day saying we have to get the number one seed. We know that we have to play well to win a playoff series and you're going to have to play well on the road to win a playoff series," Brooks said. "We did it last year and lost our home last year. We just want to play better. We're not even thinking about the seedings. No matter who you play you're going to play a good team in the first round."
Brooks is right, home court advantage is nice, but it didn't decide either the Western Conference or NBA Finals last year.
The Thunder were the two seed in the Western Conference Finals and won and had home court advantage in the Finals and lost. I think the one seed matters more in who you play in the second round. Whether it's the Houston Rocket, Utah Jazz or even the Los Angeles Lakers I don't think the first round matters. Each of those teams are awful road teams and will get housed by the Spurs or Thunder.
However, in the second round it's a matter of whether you play the Los Angeles Clippers or whoever wins the likely match up of the 4/5 match up between the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets.
