Ryan Richards wins Player of the Week Honors

It has been a turbulent time for San Antonio Spurs 2010 Draft pick Ryan Richards in his recent pro-career. He has bounced from team-to-team overseas including Switzerland's Lugano Tigers, Canaria in Spain, and Polish team Asseco Gdynia to name a few. From personal reasons to simply Richards and the team parting ways, it seems Richards could really use some stability in his pro-career.

After parting ways with Polish squad Asseco Gdynia, Richards is now playing for BC Vienna of the Austrian League and in just two games, he has made an immediate impact averaging 27.5ppg and 10.5rpg. Richards also had a double-double (22 points and 11 rebounds) in a recent win over Oberwart for Vienna.

And it is this play which has earned Richards Eurobasket.com's Player of the Week honors.

Granted, the Austrian League may not be the best leagues overseas with less-than stellar competition, but the fact remains, Richards needs to get is confidence up, get some stability, and continue to grow if he ever wants a shot in the NBA.

He is a physical specimen – athletic, 7-foot, and young. He can be a solid contributor for the Spurs but he has to get with the program. He can't be moving from one team to another nor have reportedly attitude issues.

Hopefully this honor will put Richards on the right path and get him in the right mindset with the goal still being making it to the NBA and suiting up for San Antonio.
