According to the Hartford Courant, former Los Angeles Clippers forward Ryan Gomes, who was participating in a game at the Greater Hartford Pro Am, says he wants to return to the NBA after spending last season in Germany and has already worked out for the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder.

He says he has worked out for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs, but is still weighing his options for the upcoming season. He says he is using this summer to improve his off-the-dribble shooting.

"I was never a superstar kind of guy, I was more of fill-in guy, but I've always been consistent," he said. "My last year playing with Los Angeles wasn't my best year, it was probably my worst in the NBA. So if I go to a team like [the Thunder or Spurs] I know what my roll is already. I'll come in and try to fill any void they have there."

With one roster spot remaining on the Spurs, you can add Gomes to the list of potential 15th spot candidates that already includes restricted free agent Gary Neal, Greg Oden, and possibly a player for the Summer League team (Deshaun Thomas, Hollis Thompson).

Gomes is a 6’7” 30-year old forward who can play both the small forward and stretch-4 power forward position as well. In seven NBA seasons, he’s averaged a career 10.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, shot 45% from the field and 35% from 3-point range in 27.9 career minutes per game. In his last season with the Clippers in 2011-2012, Gomes earned $4,000,000 that season per Basketball Reference.

With Kawhi Leonard being the only small forward on roster, Gomes could be a potential backup for Leonard off th bench.

What do you think Spurs fans? Should the Spurs try to sign Gomes?
