Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey has effectively bolstered his teams' talent over the past year or so, and now has his sights on joining the upper 
echelon of NBA teams this very season.

On a recent radio show, Morey spoke on several subjects, including the other NBA teams he believes his Rockets will be chasing in the 2013-14 season.
"“I think there are probably at least three teams better than us if not more,” said Morey.
Regarding the Rockets chances at winning the NBA championship this year, Morey weighed in with the following.
“Until you’re going into a season feeling like you are the top one or two I think it’s, and we haven’t really accomplished anything, I think it’s hard to talk about ‘hey we’re one of the favorites to win the championship.’ But I do think we go in with a chance, where as we haven’t in the last few years.”
When the Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, and San Antonio Spurs were brought up as being the possible teams the Rockets will be chasing, Morey confirmed it and had this to say.
“I think those three, I would say going in for sure are better than us, and they’ve definitely proven more. I think the Bulls and the Pacers they’re very good as well this year. I am hoping we are in the mix with them, maybe equal quality.”
"We go in (to the season) with two of the top ten players in the league. We go in with a young roster, the youngest of the teams that are, I think, in contention.We’ve got a very good team with the ability to improve. Time will tell how good"
Obviously, Morey was referring to Dwight Howard and James Harden when he spoke on having two top-ten players. And I highly doubt that many would disagree with his opinion on that.
So, add yet another person with a high opinion of the San Antonio Spurs but are the Rockets equal to or better than the Spurs?
Adding Howard will be a huge upgrade for Houston but is he willing to take a secondary role behind Harden? Not to mention the Rockets are younger and more athletic. However, as San Antonio proves year after year, never count them out.
So Spurs fans, does the fact that so many seem high on Spurs' chances to contend again this year give you any more hope than what you already had before theses stories started popping up?
It's refreshing to not hear "Spurs are too old" as much as we used to over the past several years.
It's a nice change of pace.
