Though news spread like wildfire on the San Antonio Spurs signing Australian center Aron Baynes, there has been no official word from the team itself on the news.
And though all signs seem to point to this being a done deal, add this tweet from his former Slovenian team Union Olimpija on Baynes status. It seems all that is in the way are visa issues before the big man joins the Silver and Black.
This isn't the first time an international player had to deal with visa issues before heading to the Spurs. Guard Patty Mills' visa issues also were in the way before he come to the NBA.
Baynes averaged 12.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in Adriatic League and 13.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game in the Euroleague. It will be interesting to see if coach Popovich will give the big man minutes considering he has not played one minute in the NBA.
I guess good things come to those who wait. Let;s just hope good things are in store for both the Spurs and Baynes.
