The San Antonio Spurs waived former Austin and Summer League Spur Jeff Ledbetter Wednesday, and with the open roster spot, they signed Matt Farrell, according to RealGM and Keith Smith of Yahoo! Sports.

Farrell went undrafted in 2018 out of Notre Dame. The 6’1″ guard played in 45 G-League games last season with the Delaware Blue Coats, where he averaged 10.7 points and 6.2 assists per game. Farrell attempted 5.4 threes per game last season and made 35% of those attempts.

Ledbetter has never made an NBA appearance but averaged 13.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists with the Austin Spurs and was on the Spurs’ Summer League teams that in the Utah and Las Vegas games.

As Smith notes, if Farrell is waived, the Spurs would be able to add him to the Austin Spurs in the G-League along with Ledbetter. The team already has 15 guaranteed contracts entering training camp October 1.

During training camp and the preseason, NBA teams can have up to 20 players on their roster. The roster needs to be trimmed to 15 full NBA and two two-way contracts (17 total) before the start of the regular season.
