Report: Spurs to workout forward James Nunnally

According to RidiculousUpside, the San Antonio Spurs will be working out forward James Nunnally. The 6’7” UC Santa Barbara alum played last year in the D-League with the Bakersfield Jam. He averaged 10.3 points and shot 41 percent on 3-point attempts.

The scouting report on Nunnally seems to fit perfectly with the Spurs mold. He’s been compared to Danny Green as his skill set is shooting the long ball and priding himself on being a defensive stopper.

Nunnally has even gone as far to compare himself to Bruce Bowen earlier this year.

"As far as what my role would be in the NBA. I'm thinking more of a Bruce Bowen type player. I'm a good defender and I'm continuing to get better. I'm learning all the tactics and rules to being able to defend in the NBA. Doing that and being a knockdown shooter are the two things that will help me get there."

Nunnally’s ability to shoot and play defense is exactly what the Spurs want from their role players at the swingman position. His skills, hard work ethic, and positive attitude have been noted by scouts and some see him as a player who can develop into an NBA role, such as Danny Green did.

Nunnally will join the growing list of players the Spurs will be working out as they decide on who they want to invite to training camp this season. These players will be gunning for the last roster spot which may inevitably be left open to allow for roster flexibility throughout the season.
