Report: Spurs set to workout forward James Johnson

The San Antonio Spurs' training camp is still months away but it doesn't mean the front office and coaching staff are not diligently working out players in the hopes of adding some help to get the team back to the NBA Finals.

According to Real GM.com, the Spurs, among other teams, are set to work out free agent forward James Johnson.

Johnson played a complete season with the Chicago Bulls in 2009-10, but he was traded to the Toronto Raptors the next year and averaged 9.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 2011-12. Johnson, 26, spent last season as mostly a reserve for the Sacramento Kings.

Johnson is 6'9", 248 lbs. out of Wake Forest. He is a four year NBA pro.

With the Spurs stacked at the guard position, seeing the team shift their attention to adding size is not surprising.

Moreover, the team does have one roster spot left and it going to a big man would seem likely.
