According to Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld, if free agent point guard Mo Williams doesn't find a suitable contract soon, he may decide to sign a one-year deal with a contender and the San Antonio Spurs could be one of the teams interested in his services.

Even though Williams isn't the same player he was in his prime when he was averaging 17 points per game with the Milwaukee Bucks in his mid 20s, he's still just 30 years old, a year younger than Spurs starting point guard Tony Parker (31).
In 46 games with the Jazz last season, Williams averaged 12.9 points, 6.2 assists, 1 steal, shot 43% from the field and 38% from 3-point range in 30.8 minutes per game via Basketball-Reference. In his 10 year career, Williams has only played 80 or more games twice as he's been a player that's been injury prone excessively at times.
Williams is coming off the books for the Jazz having earned $8,500,000 million last season. From his standpoint, it seems he still wants to earn a decent salary for possibly a starting guard position, but as Kennedy has written, if an option isn't available, he might be willing to settle for less for a chance at a championship.
On the Spurs' end, they're currently awaiting a decision from free agent center Greg Oden which could be announced as early as Monday, if not sometime in the upcoming week. If Oden chooses San Antonio, he would occupy the vacant 15th roster spot. However if he chooses to sign elsewhere, the spot could be left open for a player like Williams except for the fact that the Spurs already have four point guards on roster in Parker, Cory Joseph, Nando De Colo, and Patty Mills.
If Williams really is a legitimate option for San Antonio, then a trade for one of the other three backup guards could be on the horizon. For now though, the Oden decision is the main factor to watch at the moment.
