As the decision time draws closer for free agent center Greg Oden to make a choice on where he will choose to play next in his basketball career, word has come out via Steve Aschburner of NBA.com that a decision could be made as early as this coming Monday.
His workouts complete, his guests leaving in some mixture of intrigued and wary, sidelined center Greg Oden could choose the NBA team with which he’ll attempt his latest comeback as soon as Monday, one of his agents said Friday.
On Thursday, reports said Oden would make his decision sometime in the coming week. Friday, Marc Stein of ESPN.com tweeted that his sources said the Spurs were one of a few teams that observed Oden in a workout in Indianapolis.
Along with the Spurs, the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, and Dallas Mavericks are all also in the running to land Oden. The Spurs and Heat have been labeled the 'co-favorites' according to reports and San Antonio's interest in Oden is the longest of any of the teams as reports had the rumors beginning almost a year ago in August 2012.
Come Monday, Twitter will be in anticipation of word from Oden's camp. However, Monday is just a possibility, not the precise date.
