Report: No deal yet to bring De Colo to Spurs

Over the weekend, it was reported that San Antonio Spurs 2009 NBA draftee Nando De Colo, was all but set to join the Spurs next season now that his season with Valencia Basket is over.

But just when Spurs fans were getting their hopes up that he will be given a shot at playing in the NBA, De Colo himself says there has been no agreement set for him to join the Spurs, yet.

In an interview with French site L’Equipe (h/t BallinEurope), Nando sets the record straight about the weekend report of his future with San Antonio.

“I’m waiting patiently,” De Colo told L’Equipe. “Some clubs are always interested in competition and hopefully will be fixed in June. The Spurs have followed me, come to see me, talked with me. But for now, nothing has been done, no agreement has been [made].”

This season with Valencia, Nando shot 46.2% from the field, 36% from the three-point line, averaged 3 rebounds, 13.5 points, 2.9 assists, 1.5 steals, but did turn the ball over 2.1 times a game. That’s not a good assist-to-turnover ratio for a point guard.

De Colo and Tony Parker will be teaming up in this summer’s Olympic games in London and I am sure the topic of De Colo joining the Spurs next season will be brought up at some point.

Seems Spurs fans will still have to wait if they ever want to see De Colo suit up for the Spurs.

What do you have to say Spurs fans? Do you think it’s time for Nando to make his way to San Antonio or is he not ready?
