Report: Marcus Denmon to undergo surgery on broken foot

San Antonio Spurs 2012 NBA Draft pick guard Marcus Denmon, who is playing with French team Chalon-Elan, will undergo surgery to repair his broken right foot according to the team website.

According to the report, Denmon and the Spurs both agreed surgery was necessary to avoid further fracturing of his fifth metatarsal in his right foot. A metal rod will be placed in his foot to strengthen it and to avoid further injury.

Denmon broke his foot in Chalon's opening game in the third quarter after scoring nine points in 22 minutes.

Project Spurs reported the Spurs were keeping a watchful eye on Denmon's growth and Chalon coach Beugnot spoke highly of his development. Moreover, Denmon also said he was making his way back to San Antonio which was more than likely to meet with Spurs team doctors to assess his injury.
