Report: Jarell Eddie to sign with Washington Wizards

According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, the Washington Wizards are on the verge of signing Austin Spurs forward Jarell Eddie. The Wizards will waive Ryan Hollins to make room for Eddie on the roster. Eddie’s deal is expected to be for one-year, non-guaranteed.

Eddie is averaging 14.1 points and 4.0 rebounds in 28.6 minutes per game this season. He’s also shooting a blistering 54 percent from the field, including 53 percent from beyond the arch and 94 percent from the free throw line.

The 24-year-old Eddie is getting his third shot at the NBA after a 10-day contract stint with the Atlanta Hawks last season ended without Eddie making an appearance in a game. The Golden State Warriors signed him during training camp this season and eventually released him.

The signing comes after injuries have decimated the Wizards backcourt. Porter, Wall, Anderson and Neal have all missed time recently with various maladies, but the loss of Bradley Beal has topped them all with the guard slated to miss at least two weeks due to a stress reaction in his lower right fibula.

Eddie is the fourth Gatorade Call-Up of the season for the Development League and the second Austin Spur after Bryce Cotton was signed by the Phoenix Suns.
