Report: Forward Sam Young has meeting with Spurs

Training camp is right around the corner and the San Antonio Spurs continue to evaluate talent in the hopes of adding key pieces to what hopefully will be another run to the NBA Finals.

And with the team loaded with guards, it is being reported the Spurs and ex-Pacers forward Sam Young have met.

Granted this is a meeting and nothing else should be inferred but seeing the team look at big men is refreshing.

After losing DeJuan Blair to free agency, the team's big man depth is a bit weakened especially when it comes to backing up Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard. Ironically, Young also hails from the same alma mater as Blair – University of Pittsburgh.

Drafted by the Grizzlies in the 2009 Draft, Young has played for Memphis, the 76ers and last season with the Pacers. He is 6"6', 220 lbs., 28-years old and has NBA career averages of 5.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and shot 44 percent.

He is a energy-type player and would be a nice role player off the bench. But with the team already having Jeff Pendergraph, and Aron Baynes, Young would definitely have to prove himself in the eyes of the Spurs should they extend him a training camp invite or more.
