According to multiple international reports, San Antonio Spurs two-way center Matt Costello is set to sign with Sidigas Avellino of Lega Basket Serie A.

Costello suffered an injury riddled campaign with the Spurs last season. He only appeared in four games with San Antonio averaging just 1.0 points and 2.3 rebounds, but he made a tremendous impact in the G League with the Austin Spurs.

During his time with Austin, Costello appeared in 30 games while averaging 8.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He also averaged 2.1 blocks which was third best among all G League players.

In the playoffs, Costello became an absolute rim-protecting force, averaging 5.3 blocks per game en route to the Spurs second G League championship.

Costello’s departure officially clears one of the two two-way contracts available to San Antonio, with the uncertainty behind Darrun Hilliard’s future occupying the second slot.

Costello’s move to Italy also signals the second year in a row where an Austin player moves to the Italian league, with Cory Jefferson leaving to join Olimpia Milan in 2017.

Former Austin Spurs guard Keifer Sykes is also rumored to be joining Costello in Avellino this season.
