Sunday Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported guard Quinndary Weatherspoon will sign his qualifying offer with the San Antonio Spurs and return to the team as a two-way player.

With Weatherspoon back as a two-way player, the Spurs have 13 players on guaranteed contracts, one player on a non-guaranteed deal (Tyler Zeller), and one player on a training camp invite deal (Cam Reynolds).

If the Spurs waive Zeller before the start of the season, they’d have two roster spots available still. They can also add one more two-way player to the roster.

Teams can carry a max roster of 20 players into training camp, but the final roster needs to be trimmed down to 15 players and two two-way players before opening night of the season.

The Spurs still have a decision to make on how they’re signing rookie Tre Jones. They can either sign Jones to a full NBA roster spot or add him on a two-way deal.

Unrestricted free agent Bryn Forbes reached an agreement to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks Sunday. Marco Belinelli remains the lone Spurs unrestricted free agent.

Weatherspoon was drafted in 2019 out of the second round. He spent most of his time in the G-League before the Covid-19 pandemic suspended the season.

He got play the backup point guard role during the Spurs’ restart in Orlando.

He played 11 total games with the Spurs last season averaging 1.1 points and one assist in 7.1 minutes.
