Quick Cap: Hustle shutdown Spurs to end 6-game winning streak

AUSTIN – After six straight victories, the Austin Spurs finally let an easy win slip by them as they lost to the Memphis Hustle, 120-115.

With 71 points in the first half, Austin seemed destined to cruise to victory once again. But as we’ve learned in the G League, 20-point leads are never safe.

The Hustle absolutely dominated the third quarter by outshooting and outrebounding the offensively-challenged Spurs squad, eventually securing the five point victory.

TURNING POINT

Austin was up 11 points to start the second half, but Memphis quickly closed the gap with the Spurs shooting just 36 percent in the quarter.

Even with their offensive shortcomings, the Spurs managed to stay ahead of the Hustle for a majority of the quarter.

But with Austin up 89-84 and 90 seconds left in the third, the silver and black limped to the finish line as the Hustle got to the free throw line and rim with ease, closing out the quarter with a 92-89 lead.

The Spurs eventually regained the lead in the fourth, but ultimately succumbed to a five point defeat.
