SALT LAKE CITY – Before feasting on turkey, the Austin Spurs picked up their seventh win of the season as they defeated the Salt Lake City Stars, 116-104.
Darrun Hilliard and Nick Johnson were like mashed potatoes and gravy, as they both scored 21 points each. Livio Jean-Charles came off the bench and came through in the clutch, just like the perfect sweet potato casserole, as the French forward had 16 points and seven rebounds. And Jaron Blossomgame stuffed the stat sheet like he’ll be stuffing the turkey on Thanksgiving, as the rookie finished with his fourth double-double of the season.
The Spurs hit the first quarter hard, scoring 37 points in the quarter to take an early 11-point lead.
In the second quarter, Austin’s offense was hit with a tryptophan-induced coma, scoring only 21 points in the period. Luckily, the Spurs maintained a 58-50 lead heading into halftime.
Both teams remained sluggish to start the third quarter, probably from having an extra piece of pie during halftime, as the Spurs and Stars only combined for 44 points in the quarter.
But both teams eventually went back for seconds in the fourth quarter and feasted offensively as they combined to shoot a blister 59 percent to end the game, with Austin pulling out a 12-point victory.
