Purdue vs. Michigan State Odds, prediction, how to watch and Betting Lines

The Purdue Boilermakers have won nine out of their last 10 games and now face a desperate Michigan State team in need of a resume-boosting win ahead of March. Purdue could use the win to potentially separate itself from Wisconsin and Illinois. The Spartans would get to double-digit wins in the conference — no small feat this year — and solidify itself as a legitimate tourney team.

This game — much like a majority of Purdue’s games — will come down to the play of the big men. If Michigan State’s Marcus Bingham and company can contain the likes of Trevion Williams and Zach Edey, then they should have a pretty good chance of pulling the upset at home.

Purdue vs. Michigan State Basketball Game Betting Preview

While the Boilermakers have two excellent big men in Edey and Williams, it is actually their outside shooting that helps them win games. They own the second-best 3-point shooting percentage in the country at 40.3% and shoot a blistering 50.2% from the floor overall. Michigan State isn’t a slouch from deep either, shooting 38% from beyond the arc.

As you might expect, Purdue cleans the glass quite well. They allow the fewest defensive rebounds to opponents in the country and allow opponents to get less than 8.5 offensive rebounds per game. Meanwhile, MSU averages a little over 10 offensive boards a game and gives up just about as many to opponents. Expect Purdue to continue to clean the glass.

Neither team plays a particularly tough brand of defense as they are both allowing over 67 points a game. But Purdue is also scoring over 82 points a game to MSU’s 72. The Spartans will have to punch above their offensive weight if they want a chance to win this game or find a way to stifle this hot Purdue offense. Either way, the work will be cut out for them.
