Before the San Antonio Spurs play their second scrimmage game against the Brooklyn Nets today, Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich said guard Quinndary Weatherspoon will be out for the game, though he didn’t cite the reason.
“Q is not available,” said Popovich.
He also said there’s a chance guard Dejounte Murray could miss the game too.
“Dejounte is up in the air,” said Popovich.
When asked about the Spurs’ preseason loss to the Bucks on Thursday, Popovich said it’s “just like any practice or scrimmage, it’s basketball.”
Earlier reports said the New York Knicks planned to hire Tom Thibodeau as their next head coach.
Popovich said the Knicks made an “excellent” choice in selecting Thibs.
“Tommy’s a seasoned veteran who understands what wins and loses. He knows how to put a program together to be demanding, but hold people accountable.”
Spurs Assistant Coach Will Hardy also interviewed with the Knicks and he was one of two candidates who made a strong impression according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.
