Popovich: Anderson Could Miss up to 2 Weeks with left MCL sprain

AT&T CENTER – During the San Antonio Spurs’ Sunday night loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Spurs forward Kyle Anderson sustained a left MCL sprain.

While the Spurs haven’t officially put out a timeline on how long Anderson will be out, Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich said it’s looking like around two weeks.

“It’ll probably be maybe two weeks, something like that.”

With Anderson out, Rudy Gay will start in his place at the small forward position Monday against the Detroit Pistons.

In 23 games filling in for Kawhi Leonard, Anderson has averaged 8.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game.

Leonard himself has missed the entire season so far with right quadriceps tendinopathy. However, Leonard’s return is looking much closer as he’s started practicing and he’s even been seen shooting before games.

Monday, Popovich said Leonard’s progress has been upgraded to, “much sooner than later.”
