The San Antonio Spurs only have three losses on the year but two of them came at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers. The team is 4-3 in their last seven games after starting the season 4-0.
Add up all the struggles and tack on some injuries and it appears frustration is starting to set in. It’s way too early in the season to panic, but I’m sure Coach Popovich wants to get his guys back on track as soon as possible. It’s hard to say if Pop wanted to motive his team or if he really was underwhelmed with the Spurs’ performance, but he had some harsh words after Monday night’s game.
Funny enough, you would think the 22-point loss the Spurs suffered to the Clippers less than two weeks ago would be the embarrassing one, not the one where they lost by five.
I’m not going to criticize Pop for calling out the Spurs. We all know he’s a brutally honest guy and we love that about him. If he wasn’t impressed with what his team did and thinks they should play harder, he has the right to say it. Rest assured, no matter what injuries or slump the team is dealing with, he’s going to make sure they get it together. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them run Boston out of the gym tonight.
