Photos: Reebok set to release ‘Remember The Alamo’ sneakers

Inspired by the 1996 NBA All Star game held in San Antonio, Reebok is set to release the limited-edition Kamikaze II X Packer sneakers in August with the color-scheme used on the jerseys from the '96 All Star game.

Reebok and Packer Shoes will be using the color-scheme with the Shawn Kemp Kamikaze II sneaker and base it on Kemp's All Star appearance in the Alamo City.

What sets these kicks apart is that the soles of the shoe will also feature jalapenos as tribute to the jerseys worn for the San Antonio All Star game. It is sure to be a hit with many San Antonio Spurs fans.

Our good friend, Jamey Burke (aka "KWAPT"), over at Red's Army is a guru when it comes to sneakers and had this to say about these kicks.

Teaneck, NJ sneaker giant Packer Shoes has once again teamed-up with Reebok for another fantastic shoe. The Reebok Kamikaze II "Remember the Alamo." This limited release sneaker celebrates Shawn Kemp's appearance at the 1996 NBA All-Star game in San Antonio.

The white colorway is highlighted by grey accents, "1996" stitched near the toebox and the Reebok vector is replaced by the chili pepper-one of San Antone's most recognizable products.

The Packer name is stitched in the tongue, and the sole features a beautiful icy blue section near the toe & heel. There is also an Ortholite "chili pepper" insole. And as if that is not enough, Packer has gotten Mitchell & Ness to design a slew of gear- including a snapback, jersey and Kemp caricature t-shirt to rock with the kicks. The shoes and gear will officially drop on August 2nd at Packer's location in Teaneck and via their website. These are sure to go fast so head to Packer for all the release details.

As awesome as these sneakers are, my only gripe is that they are not paying tribute to either David Robinson or Sean Elliott regardless if they were with Reebok or not during their playing days. It only makes sense since the '96 All Star game was in San Antonio.

Check out some more photos of the shoes and weigh in on whether or not you will be getting your hands on a pair of these kicks Spurs fans.
