Parker would like to see Diaw in San Antonio

With the writing on the wall the Bobcats’ Boris Diaw will be on his way out of Charlotte soon, one thing is for sure, San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker wouldn’t mind seeing Diaw wearing a Spurs uniform.

Parker on his radio show, The TP Show, said he would like to see his fellow countryman join San Antonio (via sport24.fr).

“Tony Parker indicated Monday night in his TP Show in RMC he’d like to see Boris Diaw joining him in San Antonio. ‘He’s in shape. I’m the first to make fun of him when he gains too much weight but right now it’s not the case. We’re very interested to get him but New York is interested too. We’ll see’.”

Seeing how New York is spiraling right now, I highly doubt Diaw would want to go to a losing franchise especially playing for the lowly Bobcats.

The Spurs, however, are sitting atop the Southwest Division and hold the second best record in the Western Conference. Add the fact he and Parker have played together for France, it would seem like an easier transition for Diaw.

Project Spurs’ Trevor Zickgraf put in his vote to add Diaw to the squad and pointed out he is a very productive player.

First, he can score from a couple different places on the court.  According to the NBA.com Stats Cube, Diaw is shooting 53 percent in the restricted area and 43 percent from mid-range.  33 percent of Diaw’s scoring comes in the restricted area, 13 percent comes from inside the paint but outside the restricted zone, 22 percent comes from the mid-range and 30 percent comes from non-corner 3’s.  So he shoots from all over, though he probably shouldn’t be taking two and a half threes a game.  His defensive rebounding rate is 17 percent (meaning he collects 17 percent of available rebounds) would be good enough for second on the Spurs.  Also, according to Synergy Sports, Diaw ranks 23rd in the league in defending the roll man in the pick and roll.  So there’s three areas he’d help the Spurs in.

OK so TP says he would like to see Diaw in San Antonio but what do you have to say Spurs fans? Do you agree with Parker or not?
