Parker: London games were unforgettable

When you look back at the 2012 London Olympic games and think of the French men’s basketball team, you immediately might recall the ending scene with Nicolas Batum purposely hitting Juan Carlos Navarro in the lower region of the body.

The 2012 London games didn’t end the way Batum and France wanted, but San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker won’t ever forget the experience of not just participating in the games, but cherishing the moments of being amongst the world’s greatest athletes.

"It is unforgettable and unique to play in the games," Parker said.
"This is the biggest competition and I loved living these moments, like entering into the (Olympic) stadium and meeting other athletes."

Though Parker came out of the games without a medal, he continued to speak with FIBA.com of how special the games were to him.

"In the morning, you were talking with everyone," he said.

"It is a great experience, it creates links and friendships.

"This is what I loved during the Olympics …

For Parker, he Boris Diaw and Nando De Colo will be putting on the silver and black colors in early October as they prepare for a full regular season of 82 games in the NBA. Parker made a great stride in last year’s lockout season, as he was being called an MVP candidate throughout the year.

Diaw also revived his image when he signed with the Spurs and became the starting center in the playoffs. De Colo didn’t have a spectacular Olympic showing, and with the Spurs so stacked the guard positions, he might be in for a season where he’ll have to take advantage of the possible limited minutes he may receive.

Either way, Parker and members of Les Bleus weren’t able to come up with the Gold in August, but they still have a new chance at capturing an NBA title this coming June.
