As we reported last week on Project Spurs, San Antonio Spurs’ DeJuan Blair took part in a Pro-Am league game in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
This past Saturday, San Antonio Spurs’ Gary Neal took part in the Goodman League in Washington D.C. along with fellow NBA players John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins.
The guard showed up at the League’s indoor stop at Spingarn High, scoring a game-high 41 points for “Baltimore’s Finest” in a game that also featured Gary Neal, Reggie Holmes, DeMarcus Cousins and Baby Shaq, who has played in every Goodman League game that’s ever been contested.
Afro.com reported Neal was on Wall’s team named “Baltimore’s Finest,” while Cousins was on the opposite team.
Former Towson University player Gary Neal, who now plays for the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, also contributed to Baltimore’s Finest total, scoring 14 points.
Here is one funny tidbit from the evening. Cousins was called for a technical foul in the exhibition game for getting angry on a foul call and throwing the basketball out through the gym doors.
Only Cousins.
There will continue to be more stories of players participating in their home towns as a means to stay in physical shape during this allegedly lengthy NBA lockout.
