With the NBA draft just three days away, many NBA teams are looking to unload players in order to
move their team in a different direction. One of those teams that may be willing to shed some players is the Utah Jazz, Yahoo’s Mark J. Miller reports.
ESPN reports that the Utah Jazz is “looking for deals” and open to trading power forward Paul Millsap(notes), who averaged 17.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game last season, or point guard Devin Harris(notes), who averaged 15.2 points and 7.1 assists per game last year.
Observing that the San Antonio Spurs are relatively thin in the front line, Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter could use someone of Millsap’s production to help of the paint. Millsap isn’t regarded as a great defensive post player, because he is only 6’8. He is an undersized big man, like DeJuan Blair, that has learned to score consistently in the NBA.
Although Millsap may be undersized, he still got it done on the court for Utah. Last season Milsap averaged 17.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, and shot 53% from the field.
Millsap is set to make 16.7 million over the next two seasons and the Spurs don’t necessarily have a contract to match a deal for him. However, Richard Jefferson would be the closest contract but the Jazz would have to include one more player on their side to swing the deal. The Spurs would also need to send a cash amount to make the deal happen.
