McCallum assigned to Austin for second stint

The San Antonio Spurs assigned guard Ray McCallum to the Austin Spurs for what will be his second stint with the D-League franchise.

He was in Austin earlier this month for a one-game stay, where he scored 12 points, four assists and three rebounds in a game against the Westchester Knicks.

The 6-3 guard is averaging 1.8 points in 7.6 minutes per game with San Antonio this season.

He’ll be with Austin as they hit the road today in Hidalgo against the RGV Vipers for an early tip at 11 a.m. and will likely be back home with the team against the same Vipers on Friday.

The added playing time will be good for McCallum, especially since he has only seen the floor in 12 games with the Spurs this season. He’ll likely split time at point guard with Keifer Sykes.
