After it was reported on Monday that San Antonio Spurs 2013 first round draft pick Livio Jean-Charles suffered a right knee injury in the FIBA U-20 games against the Czech Republic, the severity of the injury wasn't known at the time.
Now according to the French Federation of Basketball (FFBB), Jean-Charles did indeed suffer a severe right knee sprain and will undergo surgery. Here's the translation from FFBB via Sportando.net.
Livio Jean-Charles will not pursue the final phase of the Euro U20 currently taking place in Tallinn (Estonia). Indeed, following the investigations passed Tuesday in Paris, it was confirmed that the young player ASVEL had a severe sprain in his right knee, requiring surgery.
A timetable hasn't been announced yet nor an estimation of how long it will take Jean-Charles to recover, but these past two months have been rough for the Spurs' international prospects as both Adam Hanga and Davis Bertans are also recovering from two different surgical procedures.
