Sports Illustrated has reported that longtime Jazz owner, Larry Miller, has passed away. Miller was a successful entrepreneur and advocate of the community.
Larry Miller purchased the Jazz in the mid-80s, and they went on to be one of the most successful and stable franchises in the NBA. They have seemingly been in the playoff hunt every year I can remember, and all of it has been under the same coach too.
Miller made the Jazz something other teams can aspire to be. Playing in one of the league’s smallest markets, they have remained very viable. They have also done this with respectable players who, for the most part, stay out of trouble.
We at Project Spurs send our condolences out to the Miller family. Whatever direction the Jazz take from this point on, we hope they continue on with the principles Miller established.
