Kyle Anderson Recalled To San Antonio

Another week, another drive down the I-35 corridor for Kyle Anderson as the San Antonio Spurs recalled the rookie small forward on Monday.

In five stints with Austin this season Anderson has appeared in 26 games, averaging 21.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.96 steals and 1.46 blocks in 40.0 minutes.

The former UCLA Bruin has appeared in 30 games for San Antonio this season, averaging 2.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 11.5 minutes.

Though one may get tired of the traveling back and forth from Austin to San Antonio, Anderson’s maturity and willingness to do whatever the Spurs ask of him shines through as he displayed on Twitter shortly after the news broke.

Anderson’s call up comes on the heels of an abysmal defeat to the Bakersfield Jam on Sunday, as the Austin Spurs lost Game 1 of their first round matchup, 117-79. But Anderson getting called up doesn’t spell doom or surrender for Austin. The call up to San Antonio is just a chance to get some extra work done in time for Game 2 on Saturday, so Anderson could be heading back up sometime this weekend.

Kyle did get some run with the big league club last night, in the Spurs 110-98 win over the Houston Rockets. Anderson had two points, one rebound and a steal in six minutes of action.
