Just a few months after being drafted by the San Antonio Spurs, Cory Joseph has been hard at work back on the court playing for the Canadian National Team.
Being 19-years old and representing Canada among national team veterans has been an adjustment for Joseph, but his teammates are starting to take notice of the former Longhorn.
Canada power forward Levon Kendall, who is eight years Joseph’s senior, told the Toronto Sun he is pleased with Joseph’s effort and attitude.
Kendall said he was pleased with the way San Antonio Spurs first round pick Cory Joseph has handled himself since joining the team — and not just in terms of adapting to the increased physicality.
“I’ve been most impressed with his attitude, not having a sense of entitlement (from being a first round selection),” Kendall said of the Pickering native, who turned 20 on Saturday.
“He understands guys have been here (a while), he’s got to prove himself before he gets that respect. He has to earn it to a certain extent so that’s what I’ve been most surprised (about). It’s nice to see that.”
Joseph and the Canadian National Team will be competing for a spot in the 2012 Olympics when they tip off against Spurs forward Tiago Splitter and Brazil in the FIBA Americas Tournament August 30 in Argentina.
